Please adhere to the following instructions diligently for a period of 7 to 10 days following your lip procedure to facilitate optimal healing and the preservation of long-lasting results.
Begin Aquaphor application (or ointment recommended by your artist) on Day 1.
For the first day or so, you will notice a lymph fluid leaking from your lips (this is normal).
Every 2 hours for the first 3 days, gently cleanse your lips using a cotton pad lightly dampened with distilled water to prevent them from becoming overly crusty.
Pat dry with a clean paper towel — do not rub.
After cleansing, apply a very thin layer of ointment twice daily — morning and night.
Do not over-apply. Lips should feel lightly moisturized, never greasy or heavily coated.
Before bed, use less ointment so your lips can breathe.
If you awaken in the morning and notice yellow discoloration on your lips, please do not panic. This discoloration is likely a crust. You can gently remove the crust and apply an ointment to the affected area.
Refrain from rubbing, scratching, or picking at your lips.
Peeling and flaking are normal occurrences. During the peeling phase, reduce the amount of ointment used to allow the lips to exfoliate naturally.
Excessive ointment application accelerates the peeling process, which may compromise the longevity of the lip color.
Picking at the lips can lead to scarring, uneven healing, or color loss.
Refrain from licking, biting, or sucking on your lips.
Minimize saliva contact to the extent possible.
Utilize a straw for beverages during the initial three days.
Avoid consuming spicy, salty, acidic, or excessively hot foods for a period of three to five days.
Refrain from kissing or engaging in oral contact until the wound has fully healed.
Refrain from submerging your lips in baths, pools, or hot tubs.
Avoid saunas, hot yoga, steam rooms, and swimming (chlorinated or saltwater) for a minimum of ten days.
Exercise should be refrained from for ten days, as sweat and heat can impede the healing process and pigment retention.
Prohibit shower water, soap, or shampoo from directly running over your lips.
Prioritize hand hygiene by washing your hands thoroughly before touching your lips or applying ointment.
Refrain from touching your lips with unclean hands.
Adopt a back sleeping position for a duration of 7–10 days.
Utilize a clean pillowcase, preferably made of satin or silk.
Maintain a safe distance between your pets and your face and bedding during the healing process. If necessary, change your sheets.
Minimize exposure to bacteria by refraining from gardening or engaging in dusty outdoor activities.
Refrain from wearing lipstick, lip gloss, or lip liner until the wound has fully healed. Applying makeup during the healing process after treatment is at your own risk.
Avoid skincare products containing acids, retinol, or exfoliants near the lips during the healing period.
Avoid direct sun exposure.
After 30 days (once healed), use an SPF lip balm daily to protect the pigment and prevent fading.
If you are a blood donor, you may not donate blood for one year following a permanent makeup procedure, as per the guidelines of the American Red Cross.
Lips will exhibit a swollen, vibrant, and pronounced appearance.
Mild tenderness is a common occurrence.
Flaking and peeling commence.
The skin may exhibit uneven or patchy discoloration.
Refrain from picking at the peeling skin.
Lips become softer and lighter.
Temporary lightening of pigment may occur.
The final healed color resurfaces and achieves a uniform appearance.
Lip blush is a two-step process.
Schedule your touch-up appointment approximately six to eight weeks after your initial session to refine the color and extend its durability.
Apply SPF lip balm daily once the healing process is complete.
Refrain from using frequent lip scrubs or exfoliants, as they may accelerate pigment fading.
Do not resume fillers, chemical peels, or laser treatments around the lips until at least four weeks after the healing process is complete.
Maintenance touch-ups are generally required every two to three years.
Mild swelling and tenderness are expected.
Contact your healthcare provider promptly if you experience the following symptoms:
Severe swelling that worsens after 48 hours
Yellow or green discharge
Intense pain or heat around the lips
Fever, chills, or red streaks near the mouth
By adhering to these instructions diligently, you can ensure optimal healing, enhanced pigment retention, and the attainment of aesthetically pleasing and enduring lip blush results.
